Novy Bor and Pamhagen go into the final round with a two points lead.

World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen has continued his winning streak at the European Chess Club Cup in Mayrhofen: The Norwegian celebrated a favorite victory against the German Marco Baldauf. Carlsen’s team Offerspill won clearly against the Tyrolean club ‘Schach ohne Grenzen’ with 4.5:1.5. It is now the fourth win in a row for Magnus Carlsen, after he had only drawn at the start.

The clear favorite to win the Champions League, however, is Novy Bor Chess Club, led by Indian grandmaster Pentala Harikrishna. Austria’s top star Markus Ragger also played for the Czech club this week. But Carlsen also still has a chance to win the tournament with Offerspill. Former World Champion Anand avoided his second defeat in a row against Ukrainian Grandmaster Korobov after almost five hours and drew.

In the women’s event Pamhagen goes into the final round with a two-point lead. The title will be decided in a long-distance duel against Monte Carlo and Superbet, the immediate pursuers. Pamhagen has it in its own hands against Gwiazda Bydgoszcz.
